Michigan LARA Compliance Is Individual. What Your Staff Completes Doesn't Have to Be Left to Chance.

Every licensed healthcare professional in Michigan is personally responsible for completing implicit bias training as a condition of licensure renewal. That means most organizations leave the training decision entirely to each staff member – different courses, different providers, different standards.

The CLU Academy gives healthcare employers a consistent option to offer their staff. One provider. One certificate format. One course built specifically for clinical environments so the requirement gets met, and the training is actually worth your staff's time.

Why Organizations Choose The CLU Academy

Your staff is completing this requirement regardless. The question is whether they're doing it with training that reflects your organization's standards or whatever they found after a quick search.

Most implicit bias courses are built to pass a requirement, not to change anything. They're fast, generic, and forgettable. Staff click through, download a certificate, and move on. The content has nothing to do with clinical environments, patient care, or the culture your organization is actually trying to build.

This course was designed specifically for healthcare professionals. It connects implicit bias to clinical decision-making, patient outcomes, and real interactions with patients. Staff don't just complete a requirement they finish with tools they can apply.

For your organization, that means training you can stand behind not just training you can document.

What's in the Course

Michigan LARA Compliance – For Your Records

Under Michigan Administrative Rule R 338.7004, all professions licensed under the Michigan Public Health Code — except Veterinary Medicine — must complete implicit bias training as a condition of licensure and renewal. This includes nurses, physicians, social workers, counselors, therapists, pharmacists, and more than 25 other licensed professions.

Training hours required:
On Provider Qualification:
LARA does not pre-approve or certify training providers. Compliance is determined by content, not provider credentialing. The CLU Academy qualifies as an organization specializing in diversity, equity, and inclusion issues, one of the acceptable sponsor categories under R 338.7004.

On Audit Documentation:
If audited, each staff member must provide a certificate of completion that includes the date of training, the program sponsor's name, the course title, and the licensee's name. The CLU Academy certificates include all required fields.

How does enrollment work once we've confirmed?

Once your invoice is paid, we set up your organization in our system within one business day. You choose how your staff enrolls: we can batch upload your staff directly if you provide a list of names and email addresses, or we can send you a self-registration link your team uses on their own. Either way, we handle the technical setup.

Can staff complete the course on their own schedule?

Yes. The course is 100% online and self-paced. Staff can complete it in one session or across multiple sessions, on desktop or mobile. There is no expiration once enrolled.

Does our organization get visibility into who has completed the course?

Yes. Your designated team administrator receives access to a team dashboard where they can view enrollment status, course progress, and completion for each staff member. Certificates are downloaded individually by each learner upon completion.

Does our organization need to be registered or approved as a training provider?

No. Under R 338.7004, LARA does not pre-approve training providers. The requirement is content-based. CLU Academy qualifies as an organization specializing in diversity, equity, and inclusion issues, which is one of the acceptable sponsor categories under the rule.

What if a staff member is audited by LARA?

Each learner retains their certificate and self-attests compliance at renewal. CLU Academy certificates are formatted to include all fields required under R 338.7004. The certificate is the documentation — no additional paperwork required.
